Water Question?
«
on:
January 04, 2009, 08:34:48 PM »
Hi,
Is there anyway that i can use the old methods of creating the water (6.3) in 6.5? As, I'm really stuggeling to understand how to create the water... It seems to be very hard?
So is there a 'cheat' way? I sure hope so...

it's not complicated and the "Howto" topic is very clear
http://www.truevision3d.com/forums/tv3d_sdk_65/how_to_in_prerelease-t5983.0.html
but you can have a look on Zaknafein's blog for the water
http://www.theinstructionlimit.com/?p=10#more-10
or have a look to the very nice Ocean shader from Nvidia working very well in the ModelView TV3D65 tool, explained here with pics and source.

Ummm.... Not very good (On my dev machine, my other is quite good) (Its a laptop):
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo CPU T2450 @ 2.00GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 1014MB RAM
Chip type: Intel(R) GMA 950
DAC type: Internal
Is that all the info you need?

Yeah, that 20 fps it most likely because of that on-board Intel 950 video chipset, on-board video is not so good
Your CPU isn't bad though, that's a plus

Yep... your Graphic card (or chipset) is not suited for 3D applications.

Yea.. I don't normally use this machine for gaming, though it is my dev machine, but I've got another computer to run it on, so its not all bad

Yes, I'm double posting, I know, I have another related question...
1. Is there anyway to make the rain appear the same way? Also, how can you apply transperency to an image, eg for the rain?

you could use a Particle system for the rain, take a look on Particle Editor.
for the transparency of a mesh, use TVmaterial.SetOpacity or SetAlphaBlending , for an image, use DDS textures.
