You might as well shut down the site. After using TV for 8+ years it's painful...

I agree, if there were anyone here to answer, except the last few, such a shame, really. That's why I've had to write a TV3D replacement.

Total Dev time = 50% to code, 50% to test, 50% to find errors, 50% to fix, that's why it takes twice as long.

I know, I pop on here a couple times a week and see if anythings changed, but it never does. I'm not blaming anyone, I think Sylvain grew up and everybody else drifted away. It's a shame because TV filled a niche, and I haven't really found anything to replace it with...

Thanks, just finishing the 1st stage. All the main ingredients are there. Huge Terrain, meshes,  minimeshes (load any model & billboards), shaders, shadows (shader based), lights, materials, textures, HUD sprites & fonts, transforms, skydome, debug file, prototype water with shoreline foam (Crysis, 2W2 like) and I have separate working code for actors, ready to go in. There are quite a few advancements and optimisations and it will be for use in C++ and dot net (dll for each is up and running). Once the DX9 is ready, I'll be porting to DX10/11 and possibly the xBox.

Will let you know when there's something to see or download if Sylvain's absence continues (not that I like posting details here, but I can't see we have many other options),

cheers.

I can't help but think that the mature thing to do would be at least to let the community know the plans (even if there were problems and it were to continue as is), rather than continually ignore general posts and PMs offering help and asking what the intent was.

Hi,

I'm a french VB.net/TV3d programmer's since the 6.2 release.
I'm sad to see my favorite engine dying !

I always work on a project on tv3d and hope that i can search some helpfull informations on the forum over months.

I think that the biggest problem of tv3d is that NO real great game appeared with this engine. A lot of different tools but NO real game.

But it's normal that after a few years the first team want to go to others new projects but when you create a "commercial" engine i think that you have some responsabilities with the community and then maybe let the source code or some technical informations can be usefull for the community.

Nico.

Such a shame. I'd love to have a version of TV3D without having to worry about the hassle of licensing whenever I distribute my client to testers (or even going back to license key numbers), and TV3D is still my favourite rendering middleware. It'd be even better to just have the source code free for us Sad
