Hello, all,

My book is nearing a polish phase, so I've decided to release the first section of it (the first 51 pages) to the general public.  Now, I realize that most of the folks in the beta section are fairly experienced programmers, but it's not like I can release it in the general section yet.  :/

This first section of the tutorial is for the beginner in 3D game programming.  I chose VB6 because it's a language I know well, one that just about everyone can read, and within a few months, should be freely available from Microsoft.

This tutorial gives you a firm foundation on how to structure your game (judging by code snippets I've seen, something a good many user could use some pointers on) as well as a bit of information on how to set up a game design document, and brings you step by step through producing a teapot on the screen that you can rotate with the mouse.

There are some snippets in here that even the experienced programmer may find useful too.  Feel free to critique/comment on it.  I'm particularly interested in anyone who IS a complete newbie to game programming taking a look, and seeing how useful it was to them.

Any posts complaining about it using VB6, or stating that it should use another language will be deleted.  That is not constructive.

Enjoy!

(EDIT: Stickied!  Thanks Javin...  DS)

This is extremely usefull! Good work man! It's gonna answer many questions!
Don't get me wrong, but I think it's a little a bit early to start writing a book about 6.5 because some thinks will change until the final release.
Keep up the good work  Cheesy

looks great!!

Please, let me know when it's availlable, I'm always keen on learning more or having an extra refference when I get a bit stuck.

This has been really helpful in getting me up to speed - even though I'm not using VB (I'm trying c#).

So thanks!

No dates yet.  Still waiting for the completion of TVMedia, as well as getting an artist on board.
