hey - many thanks jviper  & mithrandir for the good oil on the intersecting meshes problem i was having - all sorted at that level.
so - next thing i can't sort for me self is 'wireframe' mode....
while i can display nicely in rendered views with varying transparencys as needed, when i switch to wireframe, i can see all of the triangles in the meshes....
is there a method or procedure that will weld/combine/get rid of everything bar the defining elements of the shape???
cheers and merry xmas all

The wireframe mode renders all edges, even the diagonal ones.
If I remember correctly wireframe uses textures. So if you apply a transparent texture to the polygon, you may end up with invisible edges.
