I tried loading Truevision 6.2 on a computer with Vista and I couldn't make it function at all.  Does anyone know if 6.3 (or any version) function properly on a Vista OS?

Strange, no matter what I do I can't get it to work within the VB6 IDE.  All my old projects I worked on with VB6 and Windows 98/XP just don't want to run with truevision in Vista.  I linked the .dll files in VB6 with my projects in Vista, but for some reason Vista and VB6 indicate that they are not linked together within the IDE.  Do I need to switch compatiablity mode of VB6 to Windows 98/XP perhaps?

Anyone else have any advice here?

For me it happens on Win7 too. What I do is I run VB6 by clicking on the project icon. This runs VB6 automatically. And then the IDE works with the dll.

So I don't load VB6 and then load the project. I load VB6 by double-clicking the project icon in the project folder.

Laters.

I'm still having problems getting Vista on my laptop to work properly.  Can anyone here tell me exactly what i need to do to get Truevision 6.3 to run correctly on a Hewett Packard Vista Laptop computer?  I mean, what is the step by step process to get it to function properly with Visual Basic 6.0?

could it be a problem with Visual Basic 6.0?  I have encountered other errors with Vista and Visual Basic 6.0 as well.  Visual Basic 6.0 still runs on the Vista OS, but there is some functionality loses compared to other OS's.

Just incase someone can help me out here, here is the error I'm getting when I try to load VB6 within the Vista operating system.  I don't know if this is what is giving me problems with Truevision, but I'm hoping if I can solve the VB6 problems with Vista, it might help me out with truevision later.

Automation Error
Error accessing the OLE regestry

Does anyone know what this means?  Why VB6 can't access this regestry in Vista?  It might be the main problem I'm having with Truevision.

In Vista, the UAC (User Access Control) was introduced.
Make sure to run VB6 as Administrator or disable UAC in Vista Control Panel, the registry will be available then !
