Hi all,

I'm currently working on a game called Universe, its gonna be a Role playing Tycoon kind of game where your main objective is to earn money (and spend it off course).

thats about all i can think of at the moment Tongue i'll add more features as it develops...i made a website (i know the website is very bad but making the game has a higher priority then making a good website) where you can check out some screenshots:

http://universe.elbekurkie.nl

no playable demo yet, since there noting you can do yet...but i thought i'dd get a few opinions  :wink:

Regards,

My thoughts on the 15FPS are that the models used aren't really low-poly and hence render the lower framerate.

Since it's WIP it are possibly also temporarily models? If not, I still would try to get some faces out of them... see how far you can go whilst still maintaining the same (or close) quality.

But it's looking really neat already.
Keep us informed!

And people tend to forget that capturing a screenshot is tough work...

i forgot to mention that i'm running my game on a old 500 Mhz pc with a 8 mb 3d card...so that accounts for the 15 FPS...i get a FPS between 8 and 17 at the moment. if i can keep it above 5 i should be able to make 500 Mhz a minimal system requirement (with a 16 mb 3d card).

but on a relative new pc i get a framerate of 50 to 80 so it's not bad.

i'll keep you guys informed about my progress,

I can't quite tell at the moment, because there are no textures. Looks like it needs work. Other than that - good job!...

@voyager:

I find the screenshots really beautiful. Yes, they look a little rough, but I like that. Other guys I have seen who made worlds with TV3D went only half way on making them look real, natural - and that's not the best way to go I think. Make them shine or leave room for phantasy - not both the same time on the same surfaces. Same goes for level design. Why does everybody try to make cities or other everyday surroundings? Why not a total freaky imaginary world, which should be consistent but faaaar out?

I love games like Mercenary or The Colony (both Amiga), which leave 95% to the phantasy of the player. The look of the interiors of the Universe ship strikes a note in me.

OMG...ok first, you need to optimize your code. Second you need to optimize your art. Third you need some form of on paper/word document design layout. Fourth, then continue working. Finally, I would say you have ambition and a lot of hard work. I commend you in doing what others cant do, actually provide real results.

PS: 5 frames per second does not mean minimum requirements.
