Gawd, the birth sound of those critters sure is annoying. And friggin LOUD. But the blood spray is neat,.. looks artificial because of the additive blending (you should try alpha blending) but cool.

LOL!
Spray is over kill by demand from others. Final version will be calmed down a bit.
Birth sound of those critters will be removed for they started pissing me off as well.
Tried alpha blending but didn't really get what I wanted so here's what I've been using. With the particle count lower, it seems as a mist more than a fountain. Others asked more, more, more on the blood. Might as well leave it on full time with those guys.
.SetAlphaBlendingMode TV_CHANGE_COLOR, D3DBLEND_SRCALPHA, D3DBLEND_INVSRCCOLOR
Still have consierable amounts of changes, addtional enemies and other stuff such in the works. Rocky

Very cool! We can see how detailed is the model and animation now, and they even attack... sweet. The blood looks better now to, but can't you make the particles a bit bigger? Or is that just "yet another point sprites limitation"?

Hey Zen,
Making the particles larger isn't a problem at all, Particle.ParticleSize = 12 in my example is easy by changing to a larger number. Too big looks a little weird.
One thing I have noticed though, a lot of it depends on how close you are to the particles. Meaning from a distance they seem normal size for what was coded but if up close as in the avi clip, they get smaller.
As always in my demo releases, I provide the source code as well and .exe for non VB users.
BTW, these guys aren't the main foe, only the annoyance team.
I'll keep you guys posted.
Rocky

Yah, that's a known point sprites problem... they're always the same "screen size", no matter how close you get to them. That's why some of us (crrrazydan for example) made their own billboard-based particle systems...
