I'm developing racing game for a while.
Car is now drivable, with Newton 1.53 from previous release.

Here is first video - preview of one of many in-game cars.

I'll be adding some progress shot once in a while.

Have you got any problems with Newton Vehicle?

I am especially curious about suspension and friction settings. I couldn't make it work properly because wheels and chassis have to share the same physical material. Making it a car with slippery wheels or sticky chassis.

Have you got any problems with Newton Vehicle?

After about 3 months of work with physics - no. I read tons of vehicle physics docs, a lot of newton forum posts and now - I think physics is very good - with all REAL parameters - no mass or power magic formulas Smiley

Only thing is when you want to make soft suspension - its hard because of newton bud - but I found solution - and I'm using it.

Beautiful movie! I am also struggling with a driving simulator..(and so keeping the old TV version where Newton’s vehicles are working!).  I wander if you like to share some of the parameter setting you use and the soultions you found..
Also your environmental mapping is great! How you get it?

Congratulations once again

DarekRuman, did you also encounter the problem that Newton time is twice (or half, I forgot) TV time? I had to take a factor 2 into account to make the velocity correct.

Also, when using radians instead of degrees (or the other way around, I forgot) everything got messed up.

I got a driving simulator working, but it was a struggle indeed. I can't watch the video on this PC, but I'll certainly do it on my home PC. Screenshot looks good!

I believe that depends how you setup your units. I have used 1:1 ratio (ElapsedTime * 0.001 to be precise) and taking into account that 1 TVunit = 1 meter and using a stopwatch I got results as calculated in physics class. I haven't done any proper testing, but by driving a car at 100km/h on 1km long lane I reached the end line in approximately 36 seconds.

I was only using stopwatch and observing the screen but it definitely wasn't a big ratio like 1:2.

I used the exact same setup and my results had precisely a 1:2 factor.

In the TV3D car physics demo they use a factor 2500 (or 0.0025, I forgot) to make things realistic, which is an estimate as far as I can tell, because in their setup it should be 2000 (or 0.002) to make it exactly correct.

Very strange that you did not get this factor 2 mismatch when having the same setup. Oh the miracles of coding.  Grin

I watched the video. That is some very nice modelling and rendering! I guess you have some shaders going on there.

I'm curious to see how the gameplay is.

Yes, 3d graphic is using shaders mainly. There is no TV light or texturing in there. All made by shaders.

And for all those physics questions - I'm using real units (metric) ale all units used to simulate physics are also real based so I'm not having any problem with too fast and too slow physics. I'm using time slicing method to get physics work smooth : http://www.newtondynamics.com/wiki/index.php5?title=What_is_%22Time-slicing%22%3F

WOW Shocked That must be the best car/racing stuff I have ever seen on TV3D!

Both visuals and physics are superior!
Keep up the good work!

TV3D showcase gallery needs to be updated. So many amazing projects getting near completion lately. This one in particular, especially visually. Very nice.

I was born and raised metric, so I have all my units are identical to yours...Time slicing may be the unexplicable reason why you don't have the factor 2 error, unless it's due to some vague consequence of vsync or something like that. Anyway, doesn't matter now.

In any case, very nice physics! Keep up the good work. I'm not working on my race game atm, as I'm doing a (serious, not game) simulator at the moment.

Damn!!

This is one of the very best things I have seen with TV! It looks the most finished also! Could be right out of any AAA game.

Exceptionally good work.
I take my hat off.
