Riemer's tutorials for XNA are the exact ones I used to learn how to do shadowmapping, so it's definitely not true to say that they use features that TV3D doesn't have.
I have only been working with T3D c++ version and atleast in that version there was several functions not avaible that I had to implement myself/go sideways, there were also several methods that was renamed and slightly enhanced/adjusted which I had to figure out. I got it working and I learned alot but I was still telling the truth
