The fact that YOU can't use them doesn't mean others can't.
Before posting such harsh critique you might wanna get in contact with Dexsoft and try to sort things out with them.

Remember, you're putting dirt on someone's reputation here Wink

I already talk to them. they just said they cannot help me and to buy myself some kind of 3D import/export tool to try other formats... WTF? I mean I buy something from them and they tell me i have to buy other tools.

I talked with a 3D artist from my team and he confirmed that the models are not corectly textured..

i am not the only one who has that kind of problem and YES I WANT to put dirt on someones reputation...

Hm
this is realy odd.
What packs you have problems with?
I always try to help people and we dont have often such a problems like you said.
We provide 12 formats and it is strange that you can not use any of them.
Also we sold more than 1000 copies from our veg packs so telling that they are not OK is simply not true. Mabye you have problems to have alpha chanels workable.
You can place a dirt on us like you said but that doesnt means that our models are bad.
How can we make such a great shots, every single model have its preview renders so it must be good. Maybe they have some problems but we are talking of packs with more than 70-80 models inside so maybe one-two textures have some small problems.

Hi,

I am the one from Dexsoft who checks models, prepares them for the shop and makes all the preview images. As you can see from our website, I also test these models in different game engines. I use the C4 engine, Torque 3D and Unity Indie for this. Besides that I see them in real-time views of 3d modelling applications like Modo, Lightwave, Ultimate Unwrap, Milkshape and Fragmotion.

So I can assure you that our models work fine and render fine.

But we indeed get more customer questions with our vegetation packs. The reason is: alpha blending. Many new game developers are not used to the concept of activating the alpha channel in their materials to get the foliage right. Then there might be problems with z-sorting and similar. Vegetation needs some deeper understanding in creating the right material in a 3d game engine.

Maybe we create some tutorials in the future for each engine to cover this.

Thanks for the feedback, Raul, but I am sure, that your problem can be solved easily.

Regards,
Frank

Hey,

I've purchased stuff from Dex in the past and I've always been more than satisfied. Might I suggest that you give them a run through TV's model viewing application( you can do this as X -- or TV provides plugins for Maya, Max and Milkshape for its proprietary formats, TVM for static and TVA for skinned/boned -- both Physique and Skin in max ). All of that is there in the free download. I've noticed Dex dumps notices here quite a lot, which is great, but if you're willing to check in Torque and Unity etc, a 5 minute check in TV might not be so out of your way. Smiley

Anyway, like I said, I've personally never had an issue with Dex content. But the additional check might be worth considering. Wink

Edit:

With the alpha consideration on foliage textures. TV generally gets the alpha sorting done for you and it's always worth going through SetAlphaTest() and tweaking the arguments. This might help somewhat Raul. I dunno about your team artist etc so I cannot comment. Simply saying they are " f***ed up" isn't really helpful when diagnosing the issue -- whether it's this end or Dex's, and they seem willing to at least hear you out. Couple screenshots might be worthwile. But I personally have never had an issue with Dex content -- I've never purchased foliage though( I really don't see the point when it can be generated in code with ease -- there is a reason there are so many tree gens out there and this is it. ).
