Newborn's winning entry in the 2003 TV3D  - its technically interesting, but I really dislike it's anti-man "message." Are there any other good techdemos available for download? How about those which did not win - the runners-up?

There used to be a few on the old site, not sure where/if they are still downloadable on this new * sparkly * site.

Speaking of Norway; when do we get the opportunity to see some nicely and authentically rendered fjord & mountain scenes? :-)

I wouldn't mind watching 600 meters straight down from Preikestolen, or driving up a suicidal Trollstigen in a car simulation, or passing the 7 sisters by in a ship on screen.

That country provides a lot of input for any TV landscape architect... (then again, according to the Guide, Norway was hand made and created by Slartibartfast, probably rendered in 3D already). ;-)

i think the right word is "misanthropic"

i regret to announce you that if theres a techdemo2004 contest and that I'm in, it will definately be even more darker, anarchistic and stupidness humankind related

and yes, there were couple of other contestants, with VERY interesting demos... not sure where to get them tho, and they were working on TV3D 6.0, so you would have to update them to make them work

I have a much more postitive outlook for mankind as well, but I still think the demo kicks ass!

I loved the demo... and I really liked the message.
Personally I think somebody should do a demo about either the US destroying itself, or Russia destroying everybody. God forbid I try to do it... I'm a terrible writer and never finish anything

Sadly i've never run newborns techdemo, iirc there was no binary, an im too lazy to install vb. But i think misanthropic or even dark is cool, so i might give the 6.5 one a look see.

Waterman: I'll try to make some 3D fjords and mountains - once I manage to learn Delphi and TV3D and a gazillion other things!

Newborn: Please spare us. The world is too often gloomy enough as it is without your misanthropic contributions.

sorry trashcan, but it had nothing to do with racism or whatever hatred nation.

I simply dont acknowledge boundaries that "governements" are imposing: we live on a planet, on a continent. I just hate this "think within the box" and nothing else. I also hate what humankind is doing to mother earth.

True, I'm full of anger, fully of against, but it was a way to express myself, just like any other way.

Techdemo2003 was all about showing the possibilities of the TV3D engine. If I remember well, we only had like 30 days to come with an idea, code the project, do the models, make the music, prepare the texture, etc etc. All in all, I really think that anyone who had the chance to come up with something, even puny, within time frame limit is definately a winner.

It's so easy to point at others... I think it's time to point the finger back at us.

This wasnt in the contest and its pretty basic. But I wrote it to see how well it does on the publics computers. It can be found at http://loradon.com in the 3d section.

Shows what you can do with height maps, player models, effects, media engine, and a few other features.

Its not open source.
