3D Modeling for Human characters

I am going to be developing a much more detailed 3D modeling for human characters that are used with my RPG builder. They are comprised of several individual models for head, torso, and limbs. I am willing to share these techniques. The models are being developed with Milkshape 3D and saved in a 3DS format. My current system uses low polygon models and feel they are kinda cartoonish. Looking to bring them up to a more modern level of modern gaming.
The separate mesh technique for 3D characters has been several times by programmers on this board instead of .mdl or other animated files. This is because the characters need custom textures applied to body parts as they interchange armor/clothing/head wear/etc.
I may looking for designing a more detail face, hands, and other body parts. Also include options for monster/alien heads. If you are interested in helping or involved with something similar, maybe we can combine our resources.
