I've begun writing a Game Design Document for the game I want to develop.  Right now, I'm waiting for the 6.5 SDK to be released, or waiting for enough money to buy myself the 6.2 license (is upgrade to 6.5 free? discounted? I know theres beta access, but...)

I was reading Javin's TV3D book, and I must say it's great.  And as a VB veteran (been using BASIC since I was 8--I'm 19 now), I've never thought it possible for games--hopefully TV3D will change that.  My question to you all is, should I wait for the 6.5 SDK to be released to shell out the cash for a license? Or should I purchase a 6.2 license now to get access to the 6.5 BETA SDK ASAP? Keep in mind I've just begun the GDD, only have about 4 pages (including a nice little TOC) and not even one class fully documented.

Need some advice. I only make $150/wk at best, and on top of gas and bills, it might take a while to save up enough for a license. Should I wait?

I've been using VB since I was 10, so I was in roughly the same boat when I first started using TV.

DEFINATELY, do not waste any time buying a license. First, you're buying a license for the entire 6.x product line, not just 6.2, so 6.5 is included. Second, 6.5 is a fairly stable product at the moment (mostly loose ends that need tying up), so it only makes sense to develop with something current.

Personally it was the best $150 I've ever spent. Perhapes that's just me, but I've really gotten my money's worth out of it.

Feel free to hop in to #TV3DLicensed if you'd like to talk to a few license holders and ask any questions, or continue to post here =)

Alright then, I guess I'll be buying my license in two weeks (when I save up the money). Unless anyone has any reasons why not?
