THE GAME:
THE CRYSTAL NEBULA is a game that combines 3 arcade-style classics: Break Out, Top-down Arcade Space Shooter, and Pong, all held together seamlessly by a narrative and the contiguous styled gameplay.

There are a variety of ships and weapons to choose from.  Ships with different sizes, weapon capabilities, speeds, armor levels.  Weapons with different fire patterns varying from simple machine guns to creating mini-black holes that such all nearby enemy ships into it.

Objective:
You start off the game in a break-out styled environment.  Your goal is to break as many bricks as you can and collect the crystals/powerups that fall from them.  Crystals are the currency of the game.  After breaking all the bricks or running out of time, the game transitions and suddenly you can move up and down, instead of just left to right.  Enemy ships start pouring down, shooting a variety of different weapons at you.  Destroy enemy ships efficiently and you can gain crystal bonuses at the end of the round.  Get through all of the enemies and the boss then comes out to play.  And he means business.  And by business I mean pong.  First one to 4 points wins.

Defeat the boss and review your earnings.  This is when a narrative kicks in.  There will be a briefing of what your next mission is, what the current status is with the envoy into the CRYSTAL NEBULA, and what is expected of you.  After this, you can then buy new ships, new weapons, and suit up for the next mission, which is always going to be harder and harder, and always has a brand new boss waiting to play pong for you.

STORY:
The human race has existed off of Earth for several centuries on man-made mega-ships called Exo-Earths. These ships process incredibly dense crystals left by evaporated black holes and pulsar stars and rely on these crystals for energy.  Although scientists can create black holes, the energy and mass it requires to create the black hole outweighs the resulting crystal production.  With fledgling sub-lightspeed drives barely functional due to the depleted crystal resources, the human race set its sights on a nearby nebula researchers said should be plentiful in crystals.  The reason the nebula's reservoirs were never tapped before was allegedly that the stars were too densely packed; almost as a globular cluster's would be.  It made travel there dangerous due to radiation and the inability for accurate high-speed travel.  This is the CRYSTAL NEBULA.  And just as the crystal sensors all Exo-Earths possess lit off as they approached the CRYSTAL NEBULA, the human race made First Contact.  And it was a hostile First Contact.
