Figured it was about time I posted some of my 6.5 work for you all.

The following clips are of several of the various types of star systems that are randomly created in the screensaver application.

http://www.deviantspectrum.com/media/clips/yellow_star.mpg
http://www.deviantspectrum.com/media/clips/blue_star.mpg
http://www.deviantspectrum.com/media/clips/red_Star.mpg

I'm still adding alot of features and I have plans for meteor fields, comets, ships, and your general star trek style weird space oddities.

Nebula's are next. I would very much like to make the Nebula volumetric but have not really been able to come up with a good implemention of that.  I made a couple good nebula scene shaders if all else fails.  So I should have sme clips of that soon.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks

Some very cool effects there. Are you using 6.5's texture cycling?

Actually it's a combination of 2 meshes each with procedural texture shaders and a billboarded lens flare.

Why does everything go super slo-mo in those movie clips?  :?

Not sure I know what you mean??  The FPS whiel recording video drops form around 400+ down to under 30 FPS.  I guess thats due to the load on the system but as for playback the video should be a constant speed for everyone.  Maybe you have your media player set to some type of slow motion setting? Or maybe your watching it while it's still streaming.. try downloading htem and watching on your machine once downloaded.

Sorry. Stupid Windows Media Player was trying to stream the entire file and play through it, even though it takes longer to download than to play.

Those are some neat effects. Especially if you're saying that they will be randomly genertated.

Well I wil be releasing it as a code sample NOT as a released product.  That of cource could change as I add more and more cool features but I don't think there is much market for very cool screensavers even at only about $10 to buy a full version.  I could be wrong but it just doesnt seem like anyone buys that stuff.  I have not decided on when I will release it though.. just will be sometime after 6.5 is released.
