Hi, i have not done much on these forums before and i have very few post and projects, most of them died out because they were just for learning only. Now im taking it to the next step and im starting a free Land Scape Editor that will edit Terrian files. It is very very early stages and i just wanted to put it out there that i am making it, it is free, no TV liscence so it will make me no money. But im like a lot of people who need an editor but dont have the money to buy one and would like the editor to fit my needs.

I know there are a few of them out there, but i wanted to make my own. The only difference is mine will come with the source code so you can modify it in any way. This is so it will fit your needs.

So far i looked threw the posts and found out how to draw circle using line 3D from this post http://www.truevision3d.com/forums/tv3d_sdk_63/3d_circles-t12371.0.html;msg86518#msg86518.

Ty Brac and Arius for the code on the forum. Right now it just raises and lowers hills.

Screen Shots:

Brush>

Brush Size Changed>

Hill Riase and Lower>

Features So fare:
  • Raise and Lower Land scape points in circles
  • Changeable Brush Sizes

Todo List:
  • Raise and Lower point
  • Flatten area
  • Splatting textures by painting on land

This is only for the land scape editing so far. Othere features are as fallows:
  • Add Mesh
  • Modify mesh Size
  • Move Mesh
  • Rotate Mesh
  • Add water
  • Set skybox pictures and params
  • Clouds
  • Materials
  • Save and Load Function

There is one more feature under the special tools that i dont know if its feasible for performance but I want to make it so you can paint your water on your landscapes. As if you are using MS paint but have it snap the polygons to the landscape and the select hight that you wanted. This feature i dont know if it will be good or not.

Still lots of work to do on the Riase and Lower Hill function does not do it exactly like i want it to do it yet. But for now it works.

Thank You

The Toolbox i chose to use is a treeview that i am modifying to kind of resemble the Visual Studio.net Toolbox.

TV 6.5
Language: VB.net 2010
Version: .Net 3.5

As you can see my editor went threw a big interface change, it also now loads up textures and allows paint on landscape, and sculpting. My Next step is to make the water adder. It will be able to do custom shapes for water so no square water that can poke out off your map somewhere.

http://www.filefactory.com/file/ahcf47h/n/3D_Map_Editor_2_0_rar

- The Paint on land and delete paint buttons now have icons
- Took out the text on the main app that has the path of a picture you click
- added a help file viewer to app that will be used for html help file
- Removed some debug prints (those make memory leaks)

more fixers to come
