The GameDeveloperTools.com Ratings & Reviews system is now live! Please stop by and rate your favorite books, engines, libraries, and other tools.

At the heart of the new system is the Total Score, which is calculated using both the average rating and product popularity. Read more about the Total Score here.

A number of other features have been added since launch. Highlights:

- The database now includes more than 2000 books, engines, libraries, and other tools
- There are now more categories in Engines/Libraries
- There is now a full directory option in Engines/Libraries
- Tools->Physics now has four categories
- Tools->File Management has expanded to eight categories
- Tools->Audio now has two categories
- Perl and JavaScript have been added to Books->Programming

About GameDeveloperTools.com:

GDT was created to provide a one-stop resource of available tools for game developers everywhere. While there are many great resources currently available, few are kept up to date, and nowhere can you browse every category in one place.

The website houses an ever-expanding database with links to more than 2000 books, engines, libraries, and other tools. Our goal is to be as comprehensive as possible, and in that vein I encourage visitors to contact us with submissions, corrections, suggestions, or questions.

Cool

Nice to have:
Is it possible to have a clue on the license for "Engines/Libraries".
E.g. OS, Freeware, Prop.

Hey Martin!

I intentionally wanted to keep the list of specifics small so that I would be able to keep the database up to date. For launch, we didn't go any deeper than price and the other categories you've seen.

That being said, since most licensing questions pertain to the free engines, I should have plenty of room in the price field (it just says "Free" most of the time) to add a short license ref.

Now that you've got me thinking, this has been added to my to-do list...

PS: TV needs more ratings/reviews so it can move up on the list. Come on over everyone. Smiley

I just want to compliment you on this website.  It seems not very many people have taken too much interest (not as much as it deserves anyways) here on the boards, but this resource has helped me find numerous handy tools that I had no idea were in existence.  There are too many links to count and everything is presented in a neat and simple fashion.  So very nice job.

Thanks Runtime! The kind words are appreciated.

I think perhaps many of the TV3D users had already seen the link when I launched, so there was less of a reason to reply. Just checking the site stats, it looks like we've received 66 links from the original post here and 24 more from this one so far, so I'm definitely pleased with the exposure.

GameDev, DevMaster, and Ziggyware are my top three referrers so far this month (no surprise there), and the fourth biggest referrer is a French site I had previously never heard of before-- again, not surprising since I don't speak French  Huh Wink (http://blog.developpez.com/jeux).

Ok, back to adding that edit field for reviewers...
