Unity 3D (version 2.5) is now available for Windows. Previously you needed to be using a Mac (why?) to develop anything. Now they have their dev tools on Windows as well.

I've not tried it at all, but it looks promising.

I've heard a lot of good things about Unity, seen people doing really quick game development with it. And iPhone/Wiiware support is really nice to have.

I'm probably going to give it a shot later this year.

Saw it run on a Mac, looked like a good engine at that time. Docs are somewhat complex but useful. Its a good thing that its now available for PC, maybe we can start working on Wiiware Smiley

I own a Pro License. Let me tell you that this is the best GameDev Solution I've ever found. You get what you pay for really.

I don't use TV3D anymore. You have to understand the sheer amount of goodies that come with Unity for the price. Even the indie version is worth it albeit without the powerfull features like RenderToTexture or realtime shadows.

The Pro version Kicks ass big time.

There are a lot of people releasing a lot of good games for iphone, Mac, Windows etc and the webplayer is fantastic. With the pro Version it's simply a matter of 2 clicks and you can get your game to stream on your webpage so people need only install the webplayer then play your game. Great for casual games released on the net.

iPhone dev is superb. Lits of releases. The showcase forum is packed also.

Won't be turning back to TV3D unless somethign extra happens with it. Not saying it TV3D is no good just saying you get tons more with Unity, especially the Pro Version.

Yeah only reason im not using Unity3D is pro license is too expensive and you really need it to do much.

So we went with Torque3D (new one comming soon), as pro license costed us 505 us$ vs Unity3D 1500 us$.

And we have source for Torque3D Wink always a great +

So basicly

Want a engine to make a game without programming at a higher cost, thought a bit limited, use Unity3D.

Want a engine to make games, where you have to do programming, no limits, and full source, cheap, use Torque3D.

Well... I would've thought that Torque is much lower level than Unity. So developing a game with Unity is faster and there are more deployment options.
I usually prefer having direct programming interfaces, I'm a coder, not a drag-and-drop game designer... but Unity seems like a very good option to get things done fast.
Also there is a full scripting interface and shader support.

I myself dont like drag and drop engines, that's why I like Truevision
However my opinion about Torque and Unity is the direct opposite than yours

Unity supply a set of abstracted classes \ functions while in  Torque everything is geared towards FPS games

Unless the new  Torque3D has been redesigned from the scratch
