Quake 2 Evolved
Current Version:
   *Stencil/Volumetric Shadows
   *OpenGL
   *DOT3
   *FREE(GPL)
   *PCX/JPG/TGA Textures/Pics
   *MD2/MD3
Next Release:
   *Reflextive Surfaces(Live)
   *New Partical System
Soon:
   *Per-Pixel-Lighting
   *physics(maybe)
   *MD5(when they add physics)

its actually really good for a quake 2 mod

*EDIT*

Well, if you're looking to give the source for your game away for free and never be able to make money off of it, then I suppose the quake 2 engine would be fine.  Otherwise, it really wouldn't be worth much.

I want to make a puzzle with like 40,000 pieces, and when it's done, it says "Go Outside"
