I think a good rule of thumb when truly evaluating TV against other engines is that if you would need to alter the engine's source code, TV needs a closer look.
Once the game is designed, tools like a world editor are very easy to create. You have a scene, which has properties, and collections of scene items, which have properties. All of those pieces can be serialized very easily. The hard part is designing the game at that detail in the first place.
So, using a game engine outsources that part of the project. If the design meets your needs.. great! If I'm going to make an FSP featuring an Orc, or a guy named Adam, that shoots a crossbow... I'm going to use Torque. It would be stupid not to. But, if you need to modify the source code, then the design obviously doesn't match, and here is where-- perhaps a year or more into the project-- TV will start to make a lot of sense.
For the life of the project, you'll be able to use a very rich productive development environment, and a modern, well designed language (.Net). Throw AI on a worker thread, have complete I/O and network system, the ability to componentize your game and hook up the designer, deep debugging and data visualization, supporting strongly typed scripting in multiple languages and easily exposing your engine to it... The productivity gains will far outweigh that time you thought you were saving by having a world editor.

Well said.

Tv is a much better engine, Ive used A6 for quite some time but the engine has way too much of a learning curve. I learned Tv much quicker, actually within the first day i had a good understanding of a lot of the common commands.
I have to give credit to Conitec though, The Modelor of thiers is quite easy to learn. Also, the level Editor is quite easy, didnt take me that long to learn to use. All in All, Tv has a bigger Advantage over A6 by far.
Of course this is my Opinion, other people will have thier own that may not agree with me.

Yeah I know its a well known history, i have 3dgs 6.31 extra, i dont like it, it works well until you want to make a game, the model renders is bad, for getting shadows you must have 900 dls and doesnt have any networking stuff except getting the 900 dls version.
Looking researching i decided buy torque i bought it and even the yellow book with the gnome in the cover the "official guide to torque"... well i dont like the script well.. im programmer and i dont like the script and i dont have time to get into the code because im alone is suppose i bought the engine for make my life easier, i have to code, to model to texturizer even i dont know what ill do for music , the script is awful. with the imitation of constructor the blocks they call it.
I still looking for an affordable engine, this one tv3d i have know about it since a friend show me some examples made with VB i dont like VB and honestly your screenshots look not to good like those ones on another engines, but I have learnt dont judge by the forums or sites with lists of 3d engines il try it, and if I can make a game without soo many bugs this one will be an excellent engine because.... I made a game thats it!!!!
sorry by my bad english!!! Regards!!!!

3DGS is now up to A7 as of a few weeks ago for those who like to research different applications.
I'm puzzled by the "learning curve" I keep reading about. I've been using 3DGS since A4 (circa 1999), and I had no learning problems. I'm no programmer and back then the language was completely different from what it is now. In fact, the language has changed again. It went from whatever it was to a more Javascript style language (C-script) and now it's called LiteC and is a 3DGS version of ANSI C. You can also use any other language your little heart desires if you want. An official A7 C# wrapper is on the way in a future release.
Anyway, the engine has gone through some dramatic change (it even has a new much faster renderer as of late A6), and even more huge additions/changes are in the works (see beta and forecast pages at the top or bottom of the forum).

Are there any mods on this forum that have the power to ban/remove users? I mean, come on.
