I think, Nebula2 is better than 6.2, but 6.5 is as powerful as (or more powerful than) Nebula2. Any comments?

I have tried Nebula (not the 2nd edition) and what made me quitting this engine was the learning curve!!!

It is mostly script base and I just don't like working with TCL/TK scripting at all but this is just my subjective opinion...

A part from that, I think that Nebula2 is a really good engine and if you make it working with Nevrax, you should be able to get a really good MMORPG base engine...

Well Nebula is all fine and good if you want to do your coding in C++ and get right down there with DirectX.  It's really not that comparable to TrueVision 6.2 given that 6.2 is DX8 and Nebula 2 is DX 9.  You need to wait for 6.5 to compare them, and I think that overall, Nebula 2 will loose.

I think nebula 2 is a really good engine but its not something like tv. Tv has community, tools, docs, and is way easier.

Nebula 2 dont have an official community and you really need a big teem of programmers to make a game with it or anything else ( its even stated on theyre website ).

But still nebula 2 has one big +: Free for any commecriacl project, no royaltes no nothing, you have a full 360 fredom for no money.

If someone has a teem of programmers and can make all the tools, and program a lot its a good thing.

Personally i like tv more becouse of all the community and a lot easier way of making stuff.

And tv is still 150 $ for a license, the community itself is worth that and I will be happy to buy tv as fast as i get the money.

ps. The nebula 2 screenchots are impresive but i dont think they are better than tv screenchots.

Checked it out a little bit. Looks like a nice 3d engine so far. Kills 6.2 but 6.5 is a different story.

I'm battling between the two choices....

Nebula2 .... shader centric now, plus, excellent (albeit expensive) plugin for doing levels in Maya6.

BIGGEST DOWNSIDE TO NEBULA2.... the total lack of tutorials, and non-existant community devoted to it.

for TV3D... I am ONLY expressing avid interest in it, because of 6.5 features....

When will it be released? who knows....?

I'm a programmer myself, so I know how it works, things take time.....
But...I would love to hear a reasonable guestimate on when 6.5 will be ready. I'm "this close" to purchasing 6.2 to get access to 6.5. I was actually planning on getting it TODAY. But saw a post elsewhere in this forum about somebody having problems accessing the 6.5 beta.

I know that Nebula 2 problem. If I had ever got Nebula2 to work, I would have bought TV at the TV65 release (or never, if Nebula2 is very good).

Most people get in the beta right away, if not, the devs will handle it quickly.

Serioulsy, its worth it.

I gave a "guesstimate" in another thread. I quoted sylvain. As for the problems accessing the beta, check that post now. As soon as it was seen by a dev he gave the guy his email address. In anycase, the guy could've just hopped onto IRC and had access in minutes. If you're talking support, you won't get any better than here.

Just my luck. You will release the 6.5 just when school starts so i wont be able to spend summer on it. Its an evil plot i know it.

Nebula Device 2 is aimed towards the commerical developing team. I used for a bit and I liked what I did, but it is fairly difficult to learn on and no there is no forums page. But Nebula is definitely stronger than TV, but in a way I feel that TV is better, mainly because it has a community and good tutorials.

There is a Nebula2 forum, look at the Sourceforge project page.

The language is rather complicated so I wouldn't recommend it as a first game engine. I heard from various sources that Nebula is the rival to the Unreal engine. And after seeing what the engine is capable of doing, I believe it.
