Hey welcome to TV! You'll like it alot better than torque, as TV offers complete flexibility.

If you have any questions, just ask on the forums or on the IRC channel.

I have a TGE license.

My 2 cents - TGE is for very experienced C++ programmers. The code is huge and complicated. Basically it's very good for a fast FPS MOD. And that's because you'll need only few script changes and models and you're on. Minor changes and code snips can be found to taggle the engine and add some extra to your FPS. But other than that other genres will need major of work to be done to get them around and accomplish anything...

Finally I seen a lot of frustrated peep with TGE and I'm happy I moved to TV3D. It's a more concrete engine and I can finally build what i want from the ground up and not rely on others peep code...

That's my 2 cents

cheers

  Exactly, just like that. Torque is a very powerfull game engine, if you know C++. Infact you can do alot with Torque Script, if you know what your doing... Just now they are bussy building an complete bsp tree editor using just Torque Script...Impresive.
True Vision has more flexable rendering capability, and you actually have to build the game from the start/scratch... that's nice yes. But looking at some of these community forms,... mostly you get noob questions, revolving around the same subject over and over... The problem is, you have to work with what you know...and build a project from
there, learn from there and grow as a programmer/designer.
If a person isn't good at programming, don't try and recreate your own game, rather create a mod (this is what Torque overs) and if you know your kungfu(C++) then try to create a real game...
True Vision is easy yes. It overs an very powerfull render engine (flexable) with a game structure that you can design from top to bottom, using easy to understand and comprehend code...Great!!!
Programmers or game designers, just need to deside- where their playground will be :-) What they will be able to do best. If your a good programmer...go for a engine that you can see al the source code of and change it(also depends how diferent to confentional games your game will be) The ability to program OpenGL and Direct3D brings a wonderfull feeling of freedom.
But, if you wanna start out from step1 and learn everything about creating a game, then go for this TV3D first. It's where I started, and eventually you learn all the required technology and processes that go into rendering a scene. And if you know the engine well, you will not need to use any other engine ever again.
Yes Ok I admit, I use Torque to create comersial applications on a daily basis, but TV3D can easilly be used the same way, with much better looking graphics...yes.

Hey guys. Im new around here. My team has been working for about 5 months on our MMO project. The problem is that TGE doesnt look good enough for us...and my programmers are getting tired of the fact that TSE isnt meeting its milestones.

The fact is we dont know when it will be stable or finished and we're looking for a new engine.

My problem with TrueVision is that, and correct me if Im wrong, it requires buildings/indoor scenes to be completely modelled instead of using a level editor like 3d world studio or Radiant.  Am I wrong?

Also, what other tools for creation (terrain editors etc) are people using to complete the suite of tools needed to create games with TrueVision. Thanks guys.

Anyway you will have to create your content and some tools for that content.

TV includes many tools like particle editors etc.

The new tv olso includes its own file format for scenes so you dont have to create your own.

You can use BSP maps with tools you mentioned but bsp i plain old. A lot better would be to use the special tv 6.5 format and stay away from bsps.

If you are making an mmo its very important to stay out of bsps as you will have a lot more controll of your game (what to display, what to load etc.) than you would have with bsps.
