I think the best game engine were TV3D and 3Dstate, I don't know which is the best than other? In China, some game development team use 3DState, so I wish to know what different about 3DState and TV3D. Thanks. 3DState's URL is www.3dstate.com

I personally wouldn't even compare the two... they are so far apart from what i can see. 3DState: vs TV3D: TV3D hands down.

While I agree TV is better than 3DState, let's not get too happy with judging engines via screenshots. Remember that most engine's screenshots are full of programmer art, which is none too impressive.

The_Function_names_are_very_nice_to_use_over_and_over_agan.
Also, I don't see anything too impressive in the screenshots as far as functionality goes. Low poly landscapes, flat water, billboards.

Ewww... There better be about 2 million wasted polygons in that scene, since THAT doesn't look 34 FPS.

Ewww... There better be about 2 million wasted polygons in that scene, since THAT doesn't look 34 FPS. Naw, the engine just is that slow. I say this out of experience for I spent ~ two years using 3DSTATE (aka Morfit) and my first project Tora Bora ( ), no comment. One thing we all need to understand, similar to TV in concept, 3DSTATE is not a game engine but a "GENERAL PURPOSE ENGINE".... Sure you can make a game with it but it will never go anywhere if your seriously planning to go commercial. It's just not designed for todays demands nor will it be for the developement of the engine is more designed for other needs. Granted, the images could be better using better textures, tree models vs. bill boards etc... but the frame rates would drop drastically. Bottom line, a considerable amount of us came over to TV from 3DSTATE/Morfit a couple of years ago now and have never gone back. Why, almost every revision was additional $$$ to licensed and registered owners (WTF with that), the forums were useless and most of the members were just down right rude, and the engine just didn't perform as expected. Just another opion , Rocky

Looking at the competition, TV is way ahead of the game

from the tv screenchots i can say: WOW just WOW, that looks just cool, very cool i just hope it looks close to this in real games ( ye i know tv is not mainly for games ) couz that would be great. 3dstate looks just as my engine ;]] you really can make better engine than 3dstate with books about 3d game programming

An amazing claim on the 3dstate pages:
"3DSTATE 3D Developer studio is currently used by more than 70,000 people. The product has received the highest rating in every review including leading brands such as Tucows and CNet."
I recall having seen that statement (or probably an almost similar) already several years ago. It's rather hard to trust that figure.
However, even if it's exaggerated (or misleading), it means that a lot of people have used / are using 3dstate. According to the web page, 3dstate now uses dx9 and supports for example shaders.
Another thing to remember is it's web support; i've tried it (years ago) and already at that point, it was very easy to load a 3d environment by just clicking a link and making a few choices.
Obviously, that engine does have a few highlights. It also has some history and culture. The overall impression though is that it goes in the direction of a cows tail. I couldn't be talked into using it. That's based on experience and intuition.
