Here we go again! News on the 6.5 3D Engine.
Extreme an utter domination, thats where we are heading.. hey a guy can wish right? Anyway before i say anything further check this new version of the good ol' bumpmap video now with some extra features that have been worked on in the past days.
http://www.truevision3d.com/wip/bump.and.shadows.aviSylvain:
* Shadows
- TVMesh Shadow Support
- TVActor Shadow Support
- Optimized Shadow Shaders
- Its all stencil shadows (ie. Doom3 like shadows).
They are totally automatically managed. As you can see a object casts several shadows because there are several lights. The LightManager will choose the best and nearest light for the shadow. So if a moving object would pass several lights (car under street lights for example) it shadow would move like it does in real-life. Forward to backward, fading in new shadow etc.
Arli:
* TVGraphicEffect
- FadeIn, FadeOut, Flash, Gamma - Completed.
- Planned for new 6.5 effects such as glow, volumetric fog etc.
* TVPath
- Nodes Completed
- Camera Spline
- Old TVPath 6.0 methods done.
- Planed, Mesh and Actor follow path.
Camera path following works already great, as you can see in the video. The video is now much smoother then the last one because of the automated camera movement. You can prepare to see some cool Mesh and Actor path following.
Some more stuff that can be worth mentioning ab out the video is that the actor is made in 3dsmax and animated using Character Studio. It was then exported using the TV3D 3dsmax exporter into TVA format. The scene that you see around him is also made in 3dsmax and was exported into TVM. It is all dynamically lightened and bumpmapped. We hope you enjoy what you are seeing so far.
We will keep it coming
