I found this while traversing the world wide web.  Seems to work pretty good.  Havn't imported anything in to TV yet to see if the polys arn't too high.

I played with it somemore.  I guess the biggest drawback so far is the models that are exported are fairly large.

Hi,

thanks for the link, it looks quite interesting. I am playing around with it, but the exported .obj files failed to convert to .tvm format.

As happenend with many .3ds files too, the TV Model Converter says "Model successfully converted" , but no .tvm file shows up   Shocked

Anyone got an idea what the problem could be ? Maybe, as serial said, the models are too large ?

Greets.

put the tree model in C:\tree.3ds
then it works (99% sure of that).
The model convertor is a lil bit bugged (not a real bug, just an annoyance), it doesnt put the full path between quotes, so it breaks at a space, it'll tell you:
"C:\Progam is not a valid model"
so what should be done: just put quotes around the path (dunno if it works in the modelconverter, just try that). If you dont want to mess with that, or if there's not a fix soon, then just put the file in a path without spaces (model's name as well)

put the tree model in C:\tree.3ds

Thanks very much ! This hint was really helpful and works perfectly for me with the .3ds files.

Even the exported .obj file from the Tree Maker has been converted, though TV Model Conversion Util got a timeout while converting ...anyway, the exported tree.tvm shows up in C:\ ... with a file size of 80 mb.

TV Model Viewer nearly freezes my machine after opening that file and took 200 megs of RAM  Grin

So, as others mentioned before, the tree files are too big .

so what should be done: just put quotes around the path (dunno if it works in the modelconverter, just try that).

The funny thing is, while putting the path into quotes, the TV Conversion Util disables the Convert button  Roll Eyes

Ahh, i guess i'm going to write my own model converter (using the batch file of tv3d), so it can use paths with spaces (kind of weird that it cant do that)

usual issues when you try and model every leaf and twig, somebodyneeds to write a tree maker that generates billboards for the branches... that would be sweet.
