A number of people are working on useful development tools for TV. The SVN repository can be accessed at:

http://tvtools.smithbower.com/svn/

If you are interested in helping, you can email box[AT]makosoft[DOT]com to submit improvements.
Or if you would like to have SVN commit privileges, email smithy.s[AT]gmail[DOT]com.

The aim of these open source tools is to improve the quality of TV3D's tools.

The SVN Mith linked to contains
- Model Viewer
- Particle Editor
- SFX Editor
- Land Editor

Thus, they are 1:1 mapping of the same tools TV3D provides.  Unfortunately TV3D's tools have not evolved for many years.  We can do better!

Please do consider contributing improvements to the various tools.  The camera code in the Model Viewer especially needs to be fixed.  A big chunk of it I commented out because it got broken during the conversion, but I think it's easier to just replace it.

EDIT: Nov.28.2011 4:56pm    - Added newborn's vb.net LandEditor program to the set of Open Source Tools.  Hopefully someone will volunteer to convert it to c# and fix the most obvious bugs.  A good working terrain editor would be a good addition to the base set of tools provided for TV3D.

I don't suppose you can package the tools into a .zip or other archive for each tool. It takes a while to save/download each file individually.

1) Download Tortoise SVN 32bit or 64bit from

http://tortoisesvn.net/downloads.html

2) Install it.

3) Create an empty folder somewhere with a name like \tv3dtools

4) Right mouse click on that new folder and select "SVN Checkout"

5) In the "Checkout" dialog enter for the "URL of Repository" http://tvtools.smithbower.com/svn/

6) Click OK.

The files will now download.  To commit changes you need to email Steve (see above) and ask him to create an SVN account for you with commit priveledges.

Anonymous svn access works. If you download and install SVN (http://subversion.apache.org/) you can easily get all those files.

If you don't like using the command line then you can use a graphical SVN client like TortoiseSVN (http://tortoisesvn.net/) to checkout all the files.

 Smiley

I'm using Tortoise SVN 32bit, and still reading the docs through, if I work on a local copy of say modelviewer or Land ED and am offline. I'm getting red exclamation marks on folders and files, does one have to be online to save your work without errors? I ended up doing a revert rather than just saving what I had done. I'm obviously not understanding what I've read so far.  I did make a local SVN repos as well but may have that wrong as well. Any advice from other user's would be welcome.

Hey Dimple

Red exclamation marks mean there have been changes made to your working copy. SVN keeps copies of the files you got from the repository in the .svn folders. This lets SVN work out what has changed in your working copy.

Now, if you had write access to the repository you would use the Commit command to upload the changes you made in your working copy to the repository. However since you don't have write access you will have to create a patch file (TortoiseSVN -> Create Patch). The patch file will contain a diff of all the changes you made. Send that to Hypnotron. He will then apply the Patch to his working copy and then commit to the repository.
