I came accross 2 interesting products and thought that I'll just throw it out here

The one is DAZ 3D -http://www.daz3d.com/

and the other is Cem Yuksel (Dual Scattering Approximation) - http://www.cemyuksel.com/research/dualscattering/

Has anyone used any of these before? Would it be worth looking into?
Thanks!

DAZ is a good free alternative to Poser. I use it when modelling characters to create refference bodies around which I build my own. The objects exported from DAZ however are not very suitable for use in games, as they are very high-poly.

Thanks for the input Lenn!

So it would be better to use it as a reference tool rather than something to create models for my games.

Guess it's back to the drawing board to find the perfect modeling tool Grin

I use Fragmosoft's Fragmotion. As mainly a coder, I don't have time to learn any in-depth (and often over complicated - for a coder at least Smiley ) 3D editors like Maya or XSI. Fragmotion is extremely intuitive and therefor I found it easy to pick up quickly. It's quite powerful (enough for game modeling, including animation). It can export to many formats and I particularly like it, as what you see in Fragmotion, you see in TV3D (if you have the lights setup ok). The UV mapper has changed from V1.0 but it was just a case of relearning that, although I often revert to V1.0 for texturing as the system was more straightforward for me. There is a free version (smiley does become annoying after a bit), but it's quite cheap at 50 USD atm I think.

Total Dev time = 50% to code, 50% to test, 50% to find errors, 50% to fix, that's why it takes twice as long.

Daz got that suite of softwares to reduce polygons and bring the models to a game friendly environment:

never tried it myself, but might be worth a look for someone that like Daz.

Loving all the input <3

I will definately look into Fragmotion and I didn't even see that Daz had a Game Dev. Kit available, so I'll give that a shot as well Smiley
