Truevision 6.0 withpatch not working

I'm not sure if the patch went through or not.
removed 5.8 with the XP add/remove uninstaller, then installed
6.0, registered the dlls, then installed the 6.0 patch and registered those dlls.

I can't load any tutorials/samples in VB. when I run them, it tells me
"cannot find DLL entry point Terrian_Create in tvutil32" (err 453) if I try the isometric camera sample, and in the TV8 - tutorial 1, tells me
"TrueVision Error: the tvutil32.dll detected isn't the good version. The good version is 6.30"

have you placed the tvutil32.dll file into your c:\windows\system32 folder? (you dont register this file)

no i didn't.. I'll do that. the download just had the files. no installation program this time. is there anything else i have to place somewhere? I just put all the files unzipped into a subdirectory and click the register.bat file
