"Element not found" error on XP x64 using VS2008

Hi, I've used TrueVision on another "commodity" machine but I can't get it running on my workstation.
Basic config:
XP x64
VS 2008 Pro (using c# and VB)
Installed TrueVision3d 6.3
At this point I'm just trying to open/run c# tutotials (I get the same error using the VB tutorials).
When I launch any c# tutorials the following happens:
1) Conversion Wizard - success
2) the existing TrueVision3D referenece is not found - I remove it and manually reference 6.3 - warning disappears but...
3) I Still get the following error
Error 1 Could not determine the dependencies of the COM reference "TrueVision3D". Element not found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8002802B (TYPE_E_ELEMENTNOTFOUND)) A03 - A complex teapot
Knowing the reputation of this community I believe I've spend some time on this (read a lot of posts...did a lot of Googling) and have tried the following:
1)Based on a previous post concerning a C++ issue I copied the dlls into the SysWOW64 directory (location where I understand 32 bit dlls are stored) and referenced those (no change). Just for kicks I also tried it in the sys32 directory (no change).
2)Again based on a previous post I've installed latest DirectX version (9.0c) of run-time and SDK (no change).
The TV3D Manager seems to think everything is good...render shows the "Powered by TV3D 6.3" logo on a black background. Debug file states success.
I'm assuming this is something obvious and I apologyze if this is the result of my inexperience since I'm more of a db front-end developper. I'm actually trying to build a 3D db front-end.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
If the TV3D manager works, I tend to think it's a conversion issue.
I haven't been using 6.3 in a very long time, I for one would try to run regsvr32 on every single unmanaged dll.
Hope this helps, welcome to the forums

Not a conversion issue because I get the same thing when I create a new project and add the reference.
I've tried using 6.5 instead and the problem disappeared.
This is good news but I'm left wondering if I should invest my development efforts using a beta library. I'm not doing anything "fancy"...basic geometric shapes...semi-transparent extruded ones...possibly very large world though.
Thanks for your help.
