Well, it's finally here, the first official public viewing of Maximum-Football. It's only been four years

And what a viewing it will be.

The game is planned to be played on the jumbotron (giant, 2 million dollar, TV screen) of Ivor Wynn stadium in Hamilton Ontario during the labour day game between the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Toronto Argonauts. There will be over 30,000 people in the stadium and the labour day games draw millions of tv viewers. So if the game flops, it will flop huge.

The game will be a 'special build' release that includes official uniform art for the Tiger-Cats and the Argonauts (normally the game doesn't include licensed logos or artwork). I'll try to get some mention of Truevision in there but can't promise anything.

So, those of you that get the CBC TV network might want to look out for that.

Now, that all said, if there are any technical issues that crop up the game won't be on display so here's hoping everything works and that the powers that be (the owners of the Tiger-Cats) like what they see and are willing to show it.

Four years of work comes down to 8 minutes of public display   yikes!

This sounds like incredible advertising - what a great opportunity! All the best and congrats.

Congrats on that ! I hope everything will go well Smiley

I'm a little curious. How will it be done ? Is it some prerecorded demo, or some player who will play it manually in real time?

It's going to be played real time. The owner of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats is Bob Young. He started the Red Hat Linux company. He's hooking up a laptop to the jumbo tron (a windows machine) and going to have two fans play head to head. So yes, it will be real game play.

Double Yikes.

Theres been lots of big achievements by TV3D developers and there projects lately but this one takes the cake. Having the chance to have your game being played in a packed Football stadiam on the big screen is a once in a billion chance! Great job. Cheesy

*having flashbacks to a Bill Gates presentation where the OS crashed live on stage*

Will the audience even know that the game is in "real-time"?  If not I can't think of one good reason why this shouldn't be a pre-recorded video.

They want to get the fans at the game involved. Besides, I have yet to find a video grabber that works at full speed. Fraps, etc all seem to reduce the frame rate of my game to about 5 FPS from about 65FPS...

Well dont use a video grabber at all..dont put the game at risc of being slow ;P .. just use a digital video recorder and ask someone from the stadium to record the bigscreen tv lol Cheesy

Well, I'm not overly worried about whether or not it's live or not. I just hope it works and people like it. I'd rather not have a football stadium full of people laughing at the project because it doesn't meet the standards of a 'John Madden Football' in a graphical sense...

I'll look out for that if the game is shown here in Ottawa at a good time for me.

*bows in immense respect*

I do remember when you first spoke about your project, couple of years ago and when I said you would make couple of millions out of it... you then said that it would be highly probable that more than a hundred of boxes would be sold...

David, you do understand that you finally reach completion of your project? How does it feel? What went good? What went wrong? What efforts did it take to pass through it?

We want a postmortem!

dude, that's totally sweet.  I do hope it all works right for you, because I know what you mean about things not working when you try to do a public demonstration.  And damn, that is one hell of a public demonstration you're going to be doing.
