I will try to get them ported over to Delphi in January aswell as add a few new ones. I apologise for the distinct lack of new stuff, I've been working in D3D10 and as such my TV3D stuff has been non-existant.

Very good to hear that!
(Don't let me down, otherwise I have to move to the well documented, very powerful alternative Torque or the even better 3DGS  Grin )

Just a quick update. Hoping to get these all ported for the Delphites by January 5th with a couple of new samples - probably some simple physics stuffs. If people have any requests then post them here and I'll look over them before I start programming. Thanks.

A few months back when I first came upon TV3D, I spent a few hours looking for some documentation so I could try it out to see if I could work with it.
I could find no worthwhile documentation so I forgot about this engine.

A few days ago I again came upon this site and had what I thought was a real good look around for some decent documentation. I spent the better part of the day and again found nothing worthwhile.
Again I decided to give up.

Just by accident did I get into  "Projects/Announcements" and found this thread.

For the love of GOD ..... these tutorials should be obvious from a prominent place in the forum.
Something like "New Member Start Here", as well as properly advertised in the WIKI.

How many others have come to this site .... had a look around ..... could find no proper learning material ....... and gone to another engine.

All I can say is, THAKYOU for this material, and , how lucky I am to have found this particular thread.

PS: Should you want a challenge, then please consider a tutorial on how to integrate and use OpenCL within a persons code. This way all members (Nvidia as well as ATI/AMD)video cards can be better utilized. Smiley
The OpenCL 1.0 standard has been approved, and in hopefully very short time we will have compliant video card drivers.

nobody wants the samples to be rushed,
and in the tradition of Tv3d it would have been a shame to release the Delphi Port by January 5  Grin
but I hope someday we'll get it. (I like Tv3d more and more, so I'm willing to wait a looong time)

Have had a most enjoyable time going through most of the tutorials.

If I may be bold enough to suggest a few changes should one think it worthwhile.

1) The creation of the window should have a window close control on it so novices have an easier time to close down the window.
Code:
hWnd = CreateWindowEx(NULL, "GameWindow", "Spinning Cube",  WS_CAPTION | WS_SYSMENU, (Cx / 2) - (800 / 2), (Cy / 2) - (600 / 2), 800, 600, NULL, NULL, hInstance, NULL);

2) It would be good to also have the "ESCAPE" key able to close the application, just in case a novice has switched the code to run in non-windowed mode.
At the end of the game loop, something like
Code:
//Allow ESCAPE key to exit.
if(m_Inp->IsKeyPressed(cTV_KEY_ESCAPE))
PostQuitMessage(0);

Otherwise, congratulations on some first class tutorials. I have learned a lot from them.

Any chance of a few tutorials dealing with the "Sound" system of this library?

Newbe Help!

I'm trying to use the pre-release of TV3D 6.5.
I'll I get is a "not valid Win32 applicaion (0x800700C1)" error when trying to run the samples in debug mode.
I searched other forums and found I need a valid key to run TV3D.
Can someone give me a temporary eval key? (I don't mind the watermark in the corner).
I'm using Vista 64 and VS 2008.

One more thing, can someone recommend a cheap/simple 3D modeling program so I can create and import meshes, textures, and things into TV3D?

Thanks!

You do not require a key at all.
If you don't use a key, then the watermark will be displayed, that is all.

Probably one of the best/free/easiest 3D modeling programs around would be "Anim8tor"
http://www.anim8or.com/
Otherwise "Blender" is also an option.

The "not valid Win32 application (0x800700C1)" error message, I think is a library configuration issue within the compiler and with 64 bit operating systems.
Hopefully some one with more knowledge about this problem should be able to help you out.

You really should have put your post as a new thread as it is not related to this thread with its tutorials.

I got the anim8or.
Thanks!

I think the problem is TV uses .NET 1.1 and my Vista PC really hates .NET 1.1.
Will there be a TV3D using .NET 2.0 or 3.0 sometime soon? I really hope so.
I'll post this someplace else.  I just used the Samples for newbies since I was trying to just run the samples..

TV does not use .Net at all. It's written in unmanaged C++.

re: enewmen

This is what I do to get it to work in a 64 bit os..

1.  Open up the .csproj file.
2.  Add this line to the resoure <PlatformTarget>x86</PlatformTarget>

I usually put this right below where ever it says <WarningLevel>4</WarningLevel>

I can't find the samples in the link. It just takes me to a Under Construction page.

I have located them:
