That's a novel way of shameless plugging.. Wink

I'm all for it though! I think people around here should advertise their own products a bit more, or in a more assertive way. Sell, SELL SELLGrin heheheh

Oh, yeah, hello "cwegner", welcome to the forums. Wish we had more users like you who are able to use editors like this striaght on without asking all of the newbie questions first. I mean your first post was praising texture splatting and terrain manipulation of the GeoNardo editor a few weeks ago. I didn't even know what splatting was until at least after 50 posts, because I had to ask a lot of questions you see. Luckily for you, you already know all this!

I think its a clever way of promoting a tool. Is it honest? That I cannot say.

I still haven't found how to apply a texture to a landscape with Geonardo. I tried the help function, but it returned an empty manual.

So for sure Lenn, if cwegner is a new user and can do all of that, he is a God!

Hi! I'm using Geonardo too, and it is really easy to splat textures to landscapes.. just import the texture.. create a new splat group.. set the parameters and then in terrain tab just set splat entire world and voila!

Really easy and useful.

Hi Newborn,

I'm not sure what all your cynicism is all about. You're just antagonizing me to promote it more by making false statements. There's nothing clever going on. I am openly promoting the tool. The API is actually quite throughly documents in the help file, maybe your F1 key is broke?

I think more people should check it out and use it. I've done a lot of searching for good game dev tools and this is the first one that actually gives me access to everything I need right from native C#. I have been a fan of TrueVision3D for a long time, but never had much success with putting everything together to make a game otta it.

I've spent a number of weeks learning the tools on my own and helping to improve them like other users are doing. There's a lot.. it can do a lot, but splatting is actually pretty easy if you give like 5 minutes, it's not even remotely hard. I think that was the first thing I figured out. You add a texture, add a splat, select your terrain, and hit a button. Yea, theres different kind of splats and can take u a bit to learn all the settings, but super powerful once you get it figured out. I'd put some tutorials together, but I'm too busy playing with the tools and I believe someone is already working on creating some for the editor.

If you want to spend a lot of work and code your own game engine from scratch, thats fine, but I would rather focus on creating content and tying in cool storys, multiplayer, etc. Hawthorne has been insturmental in teaching me a lot about concepts, graphics in general, and a lot about the TrueVision3D engine. Which has all helped me get a grasp of the game dev stuff. He listens to what people need and impliments it as reasonablly as he can.

So duh im going to promote it. If you drive a cool race car your probably not going to talk about what a horrible car it is right? You can get the latest 1.2 release at http://www.zepastudios.com/sales/geoworld_v12.exe

Go check it out!

Oh my.

Really just give it a download and check it out. If you guys are having problems with anything stop by #Truevision3D or #geoworld on irc.truevision3d.com most people around are very helpful and will be glad to help out.

If there is something in Geonardo that seems to hard to do or not quite right, feel free to post about it because without positive input and idea's it wont be of any use to anyone.

And I do appreciate the passion fella's! Not quite sure where some of the negativity is coming from but let's all try to stay positive we are all doing the same things for the most part.

I was reffering to Lenn's post. I am very sorry if I offended you, I really did not mean to.

In any case, hats off to you if you catch so fast such complicated terms, it took me couple of years to be able to navigate the 3D world Smiley

Oh trust me! he asks questions, and then he makes suggestions and I make changes. Lots of people hang out in TV's IRC channel and in geoworlds as well, its a great place to get real time feedback when you have problems and don't like to wait days for answers.

Obviously by using real time connections/networking you can achieve a much faster rate of success solving any problems you may come across.
