It was six years ago when I first began developing with TV3D. Over the years and after working with amazing people like Hawthorne on Dominus Online, and talking to Sylvain about the technicalities involved with porting the VB engine to C++ (among other conversations), I'm finally back after four years of silence to report my findings about this project.

TrueVision3D has the kindest, most knowledgeable community I have ever seen. It has the most up-to-date and useful API I've ever seen in an openly downloadable 3D Engine. And after attempting to develop my own object oriented 3d engine over the span of literally over 10 different projects (resulting in: The Blue Fire 3D Engine, OS3DE [open source 3d engine], GameBasic 3D, and finally my currently unnamed and actively developed engine), I have come to find that TV3D is the ONLY 3D engine available to developers truly looking to create a 3D game without the hassle of creating an engine for themselves.

Though my engines all "got to the point that you could create a game," none of them compare to the outstanding work (and endless dedication) of the TV3D team. I pray that if any newcomers read this, that they fully understand this is not some biased post by some life-committed TV developer. This is the honest truth of a young boy to a married man's experience when it comes to working with the OpenGL and DirectX APIs and actually making something worthwhile.

I want to personally thank Sylvain and others for their contributions to the engine and their projects which make TrueVision3D's life shine through. I look forward to future releases of the TV3D 6 series with the anticipation I've had for several years waiting for 6.5.

Sincerely,
Caleb Gray

Welcome back Smiley

You know, I think that Truevision3D is like a good old pair of bunny slippers: sure there are holes here and there, the sole might even be to the bare core, but damn are those ever comfy! You can always try new ones (which will be squishier, fluffier, etc) but after a while, they just won't feel as good.
