Hello everyone. Well I am here again with one of my sad stories. It seems I have a serious lack of interest in obtaining the resources I need perform further work on my Role Playing Game maker/builder. There seems to be currently a major lack of interest. just receive a few posts on imy own message board, not too many people downloaded it, and not getting alot of feedback

Therefore I am considering the following options:

1. Handing off the source code and handing it off to a new set of programmers. Might sell it.

2. Removing all related pages and materials related to my project from the internet.

3. Forwarding the material to an interested company that is more resourceful with game development.

OR: you could make it opensource for us....

or start an opensource project, where you work on it, but interested people can do so too. That way, they can send in classes/modules/ .... and whatnot... You could screen them and if usefull and (as good as) buggless, add it to the program...

Just some idea's...
(btw: did I mention opensourcing it?   )

I'm all open about open source. But not everyone is. A project like pete's is one hell of a big one and maybe he doesn't feel like donating 3 years of work for nothing in exchange...

Well it seems like I do have some interest afterall. I have been contemplating the open source ideal for awhile now, but find ways to keep it copyrighted with the possibility to make money off of it. I have thought about compiling modules and the source will call these modules, similar to ways the Truevision3D engine works.

My current interests for added features were having abilities to create new RPGs with alot less work. Like have sections of items of armor & weapons available instead of having enter a new data table everytime a new game is made. Have a one step function to create buildings for towns, large forests, etc.

I have been flirting with the ideal of using grid (spreadsheet) editing of certain data tables, instead of the current one record at a time.  Problem is that it may not be easy to understand what is going on.

I know alot of people want mmorpg support also, maybe going opensource will make that possible.

I have finally decided to release my Realm Magic project as open source. I figure I can gain alot more interest with helpers that way. I may myself be working on a few features with the builder to help make it easier for novice users to create new games. Now as to profits being generated from the project now is not very likely. I am taking the first steps toward going open source by removing all the registration requirements within the programming.

You may see links on my page for downloading the source by mid to late July of 2006.

I'm very please you took that decision Pete! I know it's not an easy one to take!

You can be sure that the whole community will learn from your project!

(I know I will)

I'm interested in this aswell. I have a RPG game doc sitting there for a few years just dust it off yesturday while getting ready for my big move. I would like to make a singleplayer rpg and perhaps multi functions like DungeonSiege. Mainly I am posting this for encouragment on the project and hope to see something positive come out of it.  Smiley thanks
