Now that I have finished Uni, got my MBA, it's time to get to some real work. Instead of simply moving to LA (or wherever I'd find good offers) and working as a 3D artist for someone else, I have decided to first try to do something on my own here from Serbia.

I have seen many high quality projects done with Truevision3D, but I believe that this project, codenamed Alt-Evolution, will be one of the most (probably THE most) serious projects that Truevision3D has seen to date. It is a serious undertaking, and a healthy budget has been secured partly from my own inheritance and partly from investors. Thus, I have decided to start my own development studio with this vision that has been forming for the last few years along with numerous design documents and mind-experiments. In the next 2 years this will be my full time job, as it has been for the past 2 months.

The business model has been in my mind for quite some time, and with previous development experience and knowledge about all the possible complications and delays such a project can experience, I am still confident that with a small team of 3 artists and 2-3 other part-time developers we will be able to meet our cost, quality and time goals. I would like to express my gratitude that TV3D exists, and that after 2 years of trying out various engines I can say it meets our needs fully with regards to the time-cost saving, and the cca $10.000 saving compared to the closest alternatives. However, this project isn't too demanding technicaly.

There isn't much I can say about the project itself, for obvious reasons, but I can say that we will be trying to compete with one very successful AAA title. It will be primarily online subscription-based (playable offline), the genre is strategy and *not* MMORPG. Currently our release target is Q1 to Q3 of 2010, but this will depend on other factors influencing the management of the project.

The first little part of the project so far has been EvoGUI which has been -released- as open-source for everyone to use. I was working on it during the last 6 months, last 2 months full-time. This should be some indication of quality and amount of work I am prepared to put into it. I did say I was more of a 3D artist however, I have enough development experience to be able to lay the coding foundations for all of the crucial elements of the project. Most questionable parts have already been tested in realistic conditions, and I'm happy with the performances.

So much for now. I believe the next bit of information about the project will be a long time from now, perhaps when we start talking to the press and promoting.
