Hi, My name is Eric and I would like to show my current and first Truevision3D project. It is a clone or a remake of the Classic game Columns made by Sega. It has the same basic Idea and logic.

I now have the main menu working in orbs from there so far you can chose single player , View High Scores, soon it will be multi player and options as well. I know its not much so far but soon i will have a workign beta for you guys and girls to test out for me. I have no idea what the system req are I am thinking .Net 2.0 for MEDIA and 3.0 For TV at least 256 MB ram WIN XP, and 50 MB HD space, with a 32 - 64 MB Vid card, do not know yet but thats what i am guessing will run it.

Language: VB.net 2008
Engine: TV65
Sound: TVMedia 6.3
OS: Windows XP Sp2

  • 3 or more gems, orbs , etc in a row you make a row go away
  • the board is the same size 13 High, and 6 across.
  • You can do Single/Multi Player

Features:
  • Single and Multi Player
  • Network Play (Not implemented yet
  • Shows Score and Combos
  • All graphics are made in PNG/ DDS/ PSD so you can edit them
  • Game Controller Support (Still working on it)
  • When you start a game you can chose a avitar to show up, with emotions Win/Lose/Get a line, time running out, speed is faster, other player does better than you, it will react to all these (In progress)

Other notes:

Right now the dropping of orbs after detecting all the combos and stuff is a little choppy, there is no animation for the orbs to go away or anything, that will be a later on feature that I will add.

The game is 1024x 768 resolution only, at the moment, sometime I will give you the option to do higher resolutions or lower but then it will have to scale textures at that point. But like i stated in title this is my first project , and it is in alpha stage right now so lots of bugs.

  • NO main menu
  • NO options
  • Sound Implemented - Music and Sound
  • NO Game over yet

NO need for irrklang as of now.

I am the only one working on this game.

This is looking great, you need to brush up on the textures a bit, other than that looks good.

Are you referring to the different picture formats, the main one that is used is Direct Draw Surface (DDS) using paint.net or Photoshop. I just have the other formats so you would have options of what program to edit the graphics in, but the end result must be DDS files only.

I belive he ment the way the textures look.
Like for instance, they look sort of like placeholders at the moment (Tho that's not up to me to judge a thing like that)

Looking good! Are you planning on doing anything in 3D, or is it going to be 2D only?

For sound you could try irrKlang, I found it very easy to use. Here's the link:

In a way the boxes are place holders, but the square ones are where the avatars are going to show up, there more of id say a frame or border to go around the pictures. and the 2 small ones as you can see are the score boxes ofc.

Yes i will in time do something 3D i just wanted to release something and I love puzzle games. So I decided this would be a nice start for a 2D Puzzle game and to a whole mess of puzzle games that I will be trying to clone or remake, maybe some time ill make my own new original one as well. They will not always be in 2D.

Thank You for the IrrLang link ill look into that.
