Announcing a new project to port work done for the Dept of Defense in warfare modeling and simulation through USMORS ( http://usmors.org ) in their USMORS JSIMS project. Our work thus far has been totally free to our men and women in uniform...a totally non-profit project by US veterans who still feel the call to serve.

The USMORS JSIMS project is targeted at Intel systems that normally is out of the price range of the normal consumer.

The Joint Simulation System (JSIMS) for the PC desktop/laptop will take what has up to now been a DoD only project and port it into a PC Win32 game. In the past this project has been done in 2D graphics since the DoD uses NTDS imagery in its real Joint Operations Centers across the globe, but it has been decided to go for 3D for the release to the general public. Instead of programming our own 3D graphics engine, we have taken the path of using a 3rd party engine and focus our efforts on the wargame engine. After watching TV3D since its infancy, it has been decided to use it as the graphics engine for the JSIMS-PC game.

JSIMS-PC is the working title. It will be a RTS theater level simulator of full spectrum joint warfare from a theater commander's and component commander's POV with massive multiplayer functionality.  It will have an open architecture to allow gamers and 3rd party developers to produce their own mods, utilities, and addons in the manner seen with MS Flight Simulator. A JSIMS-PC specific SDK will be released to facilitate 3rd party developers and fans.

The primary audience is DoD personnel who have infrequent access to official DoD computers and would like to enhance their skills during their free time on a platform that they can personally afford. The secondary audience is the general gaming public.

Whether the JSIMS-PC will be freeware or payware depends on the level of success of the porting to a desktop PC architecture and the implimentation of the TV3D engine by the developer of the game...me. If the level of success if great enough, then a commercial release will be considered...making for a fantastic Win32 PC wargame for the general public.

Even if it ends up being payware, and the license fees paid, the TV3D splash will be displayed on the program's initialization to further promote this excellent graphics engine.

Since this is the first time I have ever used a 3rd party graphics engine, I will probably be asking the user community here some questions from time to time. Questions from this community relating to modeling and simulation are welcome.

Any questions or remarks should be sent to jsims@trident3.us

This project is of particular interest to me, being a Veteran, and announced on Veterans Day.  I welcome you to the community, and hope to see your project flourish.  I am sure you'll find our community rather receptive to questions, and if they don't answer, the team generally gets to it rather quickly.  =)  Enjoy, and good luck with your project.
