I suspect TV3D wants to keep the revenue stream intact by not releasing it(?) This is fine, companies must turn a profit, so I think they should just say so, instead of leaving us in the ( darq. Cheesy )

I would love to see a link to the documentation (like a nice big .chm) for 6.5 before I buy.

TV3D 6.5 is far from finnished. When you buy a liscense, your not just buying TV3D 6.5. Your buying a liscense for TV3D 6.X, meaning you get access to all versions in the 6.0-6.9 range. So if there were to be another version between 6 and 7 (like 6.8 for example), you would get access to that too.

But note, TV3D 6.5, is a much different thing than TV3D 6.2. There is still lots of things to be done in it. Right now, TV3D6.5 is in a "Closed Beta" stage. Next, it has to go through Open beta (open to users free).

So simple question: when Open Beta will be released? I'm not a professional programmer, I'm just learning and I want to try TV3D Smiley

Like I said, TV3D6.5 is far from finnished. It's very hard to tell when it will go open Beta. They want TV3D6.5 to be as stable as possible, before they make it open to the public. Otherwise, they would release it now, and have 1000s of comments and bug reports about thigs not working right, and things not complete, things working way different than what they thought it would, and having millions of rediculous feature request that can be done with features already in TV3D6.5. It's a very complicated engine. They want to make sure the majority of the issues are covered, to aviod a situation where future users are driven away.

I will stress one thing though.......Make SURE you are formilar with the way TV3D6.2 works. Get an idea of how it's going to work, before trying to get into the beta. It will save you a lot of time. Even though TV3D6.2 is way different than TV3D6.5, you must understand the concepts. Anf if your waiting for TV3D6.5 to go open beta, be patient. It's a very complicated engine

If you are concerned about rewriting code or changing things, like I was, and you are pretty sure you want to use this engine then pay the small registration fee and you can enter the beta.

Except, in my opinion, $150, not so small. But, if you have it, then yeah, use it.

True,

It is all relative but for the amount of effort that the developer(s) seem to be putting into this product and what it costs for similiar solutions $150.00 seems like a reasonable request.

I was talking to Sylvain the other day, and he said that once he finished TVO (TrueVision Octree) that open beta would be ready.

I don't think he updated any thing on it but he said TVO was in very early stages of development.

Oh, and I almost forgot: Sound! That's supposed to be in there too, right? I meant to ask him about that when I was on IRC.....

Sound is part of the media engine, not the 3D engine, and therefore will be in beta seperately from the 6.5 3D engine.

.....And, if I were to use the old MediaEngine, that wouldn't be a problem, would it?

Hi Migajek, hi all,

I would say, use 6.2, learn to master 6.2 and 6.5 will come by its time...

Most of 6.5 is the same as 6.2.  The major differences come from the new features, or updates we've made to various classes.  But, TVLandscape is still TVLandscape, TVMesh is still TVMesh, etc.  It will take time to port from 6.2 to 6.5, but at least you will understand how TV works, and it will make 6.5 that much easier to understand.
